What if I can’t come to one of your offices?
If you are unable to meet at one of our offices, we are always able to meet at the local courthouse in your home town.
What should I bring to my appointment?
You will need to bring two pieces of identification (one photo and any other government issued ID except for a health card) and any and all documents your matter involves.
Do you offer an initial consultation?
We offer a free 30 minute consultation with a lawyer in the office to allow you receive some initial legal advice and meet the lawyer.
Do you take legal aid?
We take legal aid for all criminal matters. We do accept legal aid for family and children’s aid matters however not all matters are accepted at all times of the year. You will be advised at the time of booking the initial appointment if we are accepting family legal aid clients. Unfortunately due to demand we do have black out times when no new family aid clients are accepted.
How much does a lawyer cost?
There are varying hourly rates and block fees for different matters. This will be discussed in the initial appointment. A retainer will be required for any new matter that is not legal aid. The amount of the retainer will vary depending upon the matter.
What if I can’t afford to pay the retainer up front?
We do accept payment plans which can be discussed and agreed upon during the initial meeting.
Can I bring a friend of relative with me to my appointment?
You are more than welcome to bring someone with you to your appointment.
However, please keep in mind we are under very strict duties to ensure your interests are being represented. If we feel your friend or relatives presence will impair our obligations we may ask to meet with you privately for part or all of the appointment.
Do you accept walk-in appointments?
It is strongly recommended that you book an appointment for a consultation. Without an appointment we cannot guarantee someone will be available to meet with you. We will do our best to have a clerk meet you and answer some immediate questions.
What are your hours of operation?
Our reception is open from 8:30am - 5:00pm, Monday – Friday.
What if I can’t come during the hours of operation?
After hours appointments are available for evenings and weekends by appointment only.
Is there parking?
There is free street parking on Ontario Street in front of our office.
Is your building accessible for persons with disabilities?
Yes our building is fully accessible from our buildings rear entrance. Parking at the back of the building is available for easier access.
